Honor Societies

The Higdon Center for Student Leadership and Fraternity & Sorority Life advises three honor societies, one recognizing student leaders across campus and two for student leaders who are members of fraternities or sororities.

Omicron Delta Kappa

The Omicron Delta Kappa Society, Inc., the National Leadership Honor Society, consists of over 300,000 members who display exemplary character, superior scholarship, genuine fellowship, and responsible leadership and service in campus and community life. More than 285 active circles at colleges and universities across the United States recognize achievement across five phases of campus life: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social or religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; and creative and performing arts. 

The College of Charleston Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa currently accepts juniors and seniors who have exhibited achievement in the following five areas:

  • Scholarship
  • Athletics
  • Campus/ Community Service, Social/Religious Activities, and Campus Government
  • Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media
  • Creative and Performing Arts

Order of Omega

The Order of Omega is a national Greek honor society. Members are chosen based on their commitment to scholarship, leadership and service within the College of Charleston Greek community. The purpose of Order of Omega is:

  • To recognize those men and women of the Interfraternity, Panhellenic and National Pan-Hellenic Councils who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek and interscholastic activities, and who encourage and inspire others in the Greek community to do the same.
  • To bring together the aforementioned individuals to discuss issues of significance to the College of Charleston Greek community and to strive to raise the standards for all of its members.
  • To engage in philanthropic activities and promote such values throughout the College and Charleston communities.

Order of Omega inducts members in the spring and fall semesters. 

Order of Omega Applications

  • Must submit this completed application.
  • Must retain at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA and be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the College.
  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours and have been on campus for at least 2 semesters.
  • Must be in good standing within your fraternity or sorority.
  • Must participate in at least one Order of Omega sponsored program/event beyond the regular meetings if accepted.

Rho Lambda

Rho Lambda is a national Greek honor society for sorority women. The purpose of Rho Lambda is to honor those women within the Greek community who have been outstanding in demonstrating leadership ability and loyalty to the Greek community and their own sorority. Membership is limited to the top 10% of Greek women. Membership requirements include:

  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
  • Junior or Senior Status (by credits)
  • Significant leadership in your sorority
  • Full time enrollment (minimum 12 credits hours/per semester)
  • Active Greek membership for at least two full academic terms
  • Transfer students are eligible after one academic term at CofC
  • One-time fee of $60 due before initiation
